ACCUREC Receives “The Green Angels” Award for Innovative Recycling Solutions

ACCUREC-Recycling GmbH was honored with the prestigious “The Green Angels” award in the “Innovative Recycling Solutions” category by the German Association for Secondary Raw Materials and Waste Management (bvse) on May 6 at IFAT in Munich. This recognition highlights our commitment to advanced and sustainable recycling processes.

The jury particularly commended our state-of-the-art recycling process for recovering critical raw materials such as cobalt, lithium, and nickel from end-of-life batteries. A significant focus of this process is the successful highly efficient extraction of lithium carbonate (Li2CO3) from spent lithium-ion batteries. This marks the first time the cycle has been closed using secondary raw materials in Europe, offers a sustainable alternative to primary raw materials thanks to minimal energy consumption, and makes an important contribution to resource efficiency.

Dr. Reiner Sojka, founder and managing director of ACCUREC, commented on the award,
“We are grateful for this recognition, which validates the results of our many years of research and development work and our dedication to a circular economy. This award motivates us to continue our efforts in developing innovative solutions for environmental protection and reducing reliance on primary raw materials.”

The award ceremony took place during the bvse trade fair evening at IFAT, underscoring the importance of small and medium-sized enterprises as drivers of innovation in the recycling industry. The “The Green Angels” award, presented since 2014, is a recognized symbol of innovation and entrepreneurial progress within the circular economy.
